A delicious mix of silly and steamy, this is an irresistible tale of exasperation at first sight. Because with walls this thin, the tension’s gonna be thick. Grace Sheridan has just won her dream role in a new off-Broadway play, and the talented hunk flooding her phone with scintillating texts and scandalous photos is Jack Hamilton, the twenty-four-year-old it Brit whose Hollywood career is about to climax faster than. Their late-night hallway encounter has…well…mixed results. When the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. Every moan, spank, and-was that a meow?-punctuates the fact that not only is she losing sleep, she still has-yep, you guessed it-no O. Adding insult to O-less, she also has an oversexed neighbor with the loudest late-night wallbanging she’s ever heard. She has Clive (the best cat ever), great friends, a great rack, and no O. She has a flourishing design career, an office overlooking the bay, a killer zucchini bread recipe, and no O. NEW YORK TIMES, WALL STREET JOURNAL & USA TODAY bestselling indie author Alice Clayton delights readers with the sexy, laugh-out-loud romance of Caroline and Simon in Wallbanger, the first book in the Cocktail series The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes shes gaining an-um-intimate. Caroline Reynolds has a fantastic new apartment in San Francisco, a Kitchen Aid mixer to die for, and no O (and we’re not talking Oprah here, folks).

The "Confession" chapters strewn throughout the book were very effective in illustrating how kids growing up have to reconcile their past experiences and real emotions with new experiences that they aren't sure how to process. I could totally appreciate her perspective. Second, I really liked the authenticity of Hayley's voice. I can't keep up with all the books Isabelle brings home from the library, but she found a recipe in this book that we tried - the Spicy Mexican Chocolate "Hotheads", sans the spices so that we actually made regular molten chocolate cupcakes - and they were amazing!! So, I figured I'd give the book a shot.įirst, let me commend the author on her commitment to diversity! Not only is the protagonist's grandmother British, but her sister has an African-American friend, her father has a Thai girlfriend, they have a Pakistani neighbor, a Jewish friend with a gluten allergy has a crush on a Muslim, another friend has a sister with autism, and a classmate is BLIND! Seems like that's a pretty impressive cast considering the main characters are Caucasian. I am surprised myself that I am giving this book 5 stars! There are so many cupcake-themed books that I honestly never stopped to consider that any one or other might really be a worthwhile read. *** WARNING: This review contains spoilers!!! *** ANDREAS EENFELDT, author of Low Carb, High Fat Food Revolution Fung teaches you everything you need to know about how to reverse type 2 diabetes. By understanding the underlying cause of the disease, Dr. Among Stone's spine-tingling preoccupations in Panama are chigger bites, a nagging headache and his nonstop guzzling of water, and there is a plethora of dialogue-driven exposition about Noriega's overthrow and the ruin of the rain forests. At this point (if not earlier), the novel loses coherence, dwelling on Stone's encounters with an aging tree-hugger college professor, his ganja-smoking young wife and their adopted daughter, who provide him with weapons and a base of operations in the Panamanian rain forest. Stone is inexplicably given a second chance to complete his assignment alone by "last light Friday" at the victim's fortified home near the Panama Canal Zone. At the moment of contact, without explanation, Yes Man compromises the mission, and the police end up killing the three snipers. The target is to be identified by the team leader, Yes Man, who is to tap the victim on the left shoulder and wait for the snipers to do the dirty work. The fourth in a series of Nick Stone thrillers (after the well-received Firewall), this one gets off to an exciting if typical start as freelance assassin and ex-British SAS agent Stone orchestrates a precision team hit on a high-level target attending a snobby dessert social on the banks of the Thames. Fans of the preceding installments will likely enjoy this outing, but others will be put off by the discomfiting juxtaposition of frivolity and gruesome gore. Burning Dawn (Hqn) is a Used Mass Market Paperback available to purchase and shipped from Firefly Bookstore in Kutztown, PA. New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter returns with a sizzling Angels of the Dark tale about a winged warrior renowned for his ruthlessness, and the woman who becomes. Uneven pacing, clumsy language (“Life would be over the moon crazmazing”), and sketchy worldbuilding distract from magnetic characters and numerous conflicts, and readers might question the priorities of beings who pay more attention to a petty lovers’ quarrel than to the pursuit of a demonic prince. They meet as prisoners of the Phoenix and begin to build a relationship in spite of themselves, as the figurative and literal heat between them cannot be denied. Thane nurses emotional wounds from time spent in brutal captivity decades ago, while Elin has suffered panic attacks at the sight of blood and violence-of which the book has plenty-ever since witnessing the deaths of her family. Showalter’s clunky third Angels of the Dark paranormal (after Beauty Awakened) centers on Thane, one of the thousand-year-old winged, immortal demon hunters called Sent Ones, and Elin, a young woman descended from the Phoenix immortals. The seemingly Immortal 4000-year-old body-snatcher Doro, "the Founder" (see Identity Transfer) has long been engaged on a breeding programme designed to produce a Secret Master cadre of superior humans whose Psi Powers, including Telekinesis and Telepathy, mark the new race (see Eugenics Genetic Engineering). Wild Seed, which begins in 1690, demonstrates the very considerable strength of Butler's imagination in being a prequel manifestly more interesting than much of the material it adumbrates. The order of publication has little to do with internal chronology indeed, the first volume published stands last in a sequence that runs from the late seventeenth century into the Far Future. The Rules of Dating (With: Penelope Ward) Not Pretending Anymore (With: Penelope Ward) Happily Letter After (With: Penelope Ward) My Favorite Souvenir (With: Penelope Ward) I can’t end this review without pointing out how absolutely lovely Santana is-but I’ll let you find that out for yourself. Sometimes succinctness is the greatest form of power. Peters’ prose is short, to the point, and lyrically sweet. Daelyn’s voice is cynical and snarky without being overwhelmingly pity-inducing. It’s a powerful duality of readers’ position that only the most skilled of novelists can achieve.Īnd indeed, Julie Anne Peters’ incredible writing skills are brilliantly showcased in this book. And yet, as she slowly reveals to us her bullied past, we invariably find ourselves at once within her, shocked into silence at what we experience being her, and at her side, emotionally invested in attempting to give her hope. I hope to God that very few of us out there can actually understand where she is coming from, a dark and frightening world so terrorized, so beaten, so loveless that, for her, suicide is a form of salvation. Julie Anne Peters is nearly unmatched when it comes to writing about difficult, taboo, controversial, and absolutely necessary subjects, and her latest book is a terrifying masterpiece that deserves to find its way into everyone’s hands.ĭaelyn is not an easily likable protagonist. I also chuckled and fell in love with the characters, flawed as they all are. I apologized and cradled it delicately in my hands. BY THE TIME YOU READ THIS, I’LL BE DEAD tore my insides raw. |
